As with all other categories of technology that Alpinestars has mastered, bringing a highly complex new product to fruition requires specialist experience and know-how and a design plan driven by the best brains in protection development.

Then the Alpinestars helmet development department was created and given the task of researching and developing the most protective, most comfortable and lightest possible motocross helmet.The goal was to enable riders to push the limits of performance, benefiting from confidence-inspiring safety technology, reduced weight distribution to minimize muscle strain in the neck, shoulders and back, and improved physiological and cognitive performance with an extremely well-fitting and well-ventilated construction, optimizing comfort while driving.

The design is consistent with Alpinestars philosophy and shares distinctive themes with other products in the portfolio; a smooth, attractive, streamlined profile with no external channels and features that could act as a load point in the event of an impact or compromise the overall integrity of the construction.The surface curvature helps reduce friction on impact, allowing for more efficient deflection and energy transfer to protect the rider's head from force directed to the skull and referred to the neck and spine. The opening is designed to accommodate a wide variety of goggles and the vents in the shell are positioned to maximize ventilation efficiency.

SAFETY: SUPERTECH M10 STRUCTURE

• The shell construction uses highly advanced molding technology with a multi-composite combination: - 3K carbon, high density carbon outer layer that improves the strength and efficiency of energy dissipation on the shell.- Unidirectional carbon composite layer that gives greater radial force around the shell, avoiding compression but allowing controlled deflection to reduce transmitted impact energy. - Layer of aramidic fiber that provides fundamental protection from penetration.
• This combination of layers offers even higher performance with an epoxy resin-based binder that offers the best strength and energy management possible; the limited deflection of the outer shell means that the energy spreads more widely and is better absorbed by the EPS liner.
• The result of the unique shell layering process used in the S-M10 construction results in extremely effective impact protection.Thanks to a specific test facility in the Alpinestars Racing Development Center, the comprehensive impact program has resulted in linear and oblique impact performance far superior to current helmet regulations. The performances on direct, linear impacts were higher by 41%, and in the case of rotational, oblique accelerations, by an average of 48%.

• The S-M10 visor release mechanism is designed to avoid inherent weakness in other types of mounting systems.Maintaining the integrity of the shell is vital to safety, and with the possibility of multi-directional forces impacting the visor, a release at the critical point reduces potentially dangerous rotational accelerations that can damage the rider's neck and spine.

CLAVICLE PROTECTION, AN IMPORTANT DESIGN ELEMENT OF THE SHELL PROFILE OF THE SUPERTECH HELMET.

• MIPS is integrated into the Supertech M10 to reduce rotational energies impacting the helmet causing the transmission of harmful rotating forces to the brain.
• A slippery layer is integrated into the Supertech helmet, between the padding layer and the shell in impact-absorbing multidensity polymers.
