Anatomically designed and profiled specifically for youth and younger riders, the all-new SM3 Youth is optimized for MX, Enduro and off-road use and features a whole host of technologies and innovations taken from Alpinestars' adult helmet range to offer the optimal blend of performance, protection and comfort.

This lightweight helmet features a thermo-injected shell incorporating a special blend of polymers enhanced by varying degrees of thickness, designed to offer the optimal combination of impact protection and lightness.

Main Features

• Technologically advanced impact-resistant thermoplastic in three sizes (Youth Small, Youth Medium and Youth Large. The SM3 Youth weighs 1060g (ECE).
• The fit can be customized to the rider's head thanks to the helmet's crown and cheek pads, available as gonuine replacements in different thicknesses.
• The Youth Medium and Youth Large sizes share the same EPS sizing, which allows YM-sized riders to initially purchase a YM helmet and then configure it to a Youth Large size as they grow via crown and cheek pad replacements.
• The Youth Small has a smaller EPS size and is customizable only via cheek pads.

• Extensive research has shown that children wearing a size YS are very small, typically 3 to 4 years old, and therefore require a dedicated helmet fit.
• Hydration tube channels are integrated into the helmet's cheek pads for convenience and performance.
• Featuring an emergency release system and removable cheek pads to allow easy and safe removal of the cheek pads while the helmet is still being worn, while the 3D contoured foam ensures rider comfort.
• Stainless steel D-rings ensure a snug, secure fit.

Protection

• ECE-2206 approval
• The multi-density inner liner ensures that the helmet has the correct density in the correct area for better impact absorption, also helping to reduce overall weight.
• The inner and outer surfaces are designed to minimize the effects of oblique impacts.
• Alpinestars' patented low-friction liner is applied to the inside of the main EPS liner to reduce rotational acceleration forces that can result from certain oblique impacts. This layer essentially acts as a glide plane, mimicking the brain's low-friction cerebrospinal fluid, the body's natural defense against oblique impacts.
• The patented visor release system ensures that the visor is released with the correct amount of predetermined force, effectively reducing the forces on the rider's neck during an impact.
• Alpinestars has introduced a standard for the SM3 Youth to test the chin area of the helmet under more severe conditions than the homologation standard and to exceed Alpinestars' new standards, the shell thickness and the structure of the helmet design itself have both been optimized on the chin area for superior impact performance.
• The SM3 helmet complies with ECE 2206 approval for worldwide use.

Construction

• The Comfort liner is constructed using recycled materials for a smaller carbon footprint.
• The soft fabric chin strap is 25mm for optimum rider safety and comfort.
